When I was about 9 months postpartum, I was in my house feeling 100% fine with my baby, when suddenly a dull cramping started in my pelvic region. I thought it was gas, cramping, normal stuff, etc. It became increasingly strong, so much so that I had to stop what I was doing and lay down. At its peak I was actually wailing I was in so much pain, and I put my baby in the crib in case I was about to pass out. I decided something was very wrong, and I tried to stand up to go to the livingroom to call some one, I got very weak and dizzy and nauseated and started dry heaving. I called my parents who freaked out and called an ambulance. I went to the hospital and they did blood tests and a scan and found nothing at all. I later had an ultrasound done of my ovaries to check for cysts and nothing was there. It has not happened since. What do you think this could have been?

This girl has a history of PTSD, and a mother who has a history of giving her attention inappropriately for factitious medical ailments. Now she is in my residential program, and has been chronically complaining about various minor medical problems. When she doesn’t get the attention she feel she deserves she can become encopretic and assaultive. I have argued with the nurse about providing her access to first aid equipment so that she can minister to herself. I am worried of course about creating a dependency on these things, and that she will continue to up the ante and desire more and more intrusive medical interventions. However, nothing else has really worked, like non-reciprocation or validation. This is really the most effective way to get attention and she is loathe to give it up. I have tried these paradoxical interventions with adults but never with anyone so young. Does anyone out there have experience with such a patient? I have found nothing online.

Product Description
Microlife blood pressure monitors deliver the highest standards of accuracy from BHS and DABL, the world’s leading authorities for accurate blood pressure measurement.

This Premium Advanced digital upper arm automatic blood pressure monitor features patented Irregular Heartbeat Detection (IHD), Microlife Averaging Technology, and is compatible with Microsoft HealthVault.
IHD Detects the appearance of an irregular heartbeat during measurement and gives a warning signal with your reading. An irregular heartbeat may indicate or cause cardiovascular disease. Leading cardiologists recommend taking three consecutive blood pressure measurements and averaging them for a more accurate result.

This blood pressure monitor features Microlife Averaging Technology which enables a single or average mode measurement- just like the doctor does it!

Microsoft HealthVault lets you collect, store, and share health information online. With HealthVault, you control your own health records, so you can share your health information with family, friends, and healthcare professionals, and have access to trustworthy online health management tools. Connect your HealthVault compatible home health monitoring devices from partners, such as sport watches, blood glucose monitors, peak flow meters and blood pressure monitors, to HealthVault Connection Center, and let our software copy your device data to your HealthVault record.

Also included with the Microlife Premium Advanced Blood Pressure Monitor are a medium arm cuff (for arms 9.5″ – 13.25″), a large cuff (for arms 12″ – 16″), 4 AA Batteries, AC Adapter, deluxe storage case, quick start guide and instruction book. The package also includes valuable information from the American Heat Association.
Contents Include:

* USB port for PC Download
